Archives: Sam Choy's 2/7/98

Sam Choy's Breakfast, Lunch & Crab, and Big Aloha Brewery
Honolulu, HI
Sat. 2/7/98, 12pm

House Brews:
Ehu Ale (J)
Bruddah's Creme Ale
Skipper Sam's Hefe-weisen (B)
Bumbucha Stout
S-Team Lager

Stout when it's in the 80's? I don't think so! [2010 comment: maybe not, but I've had stouts and barleywines this year when it's 100+ degrees!]

Hefe-weisen: Unfiltered and served with lemon slice. Heavy, yeasty aroma. Barely any head, although it is rather effervescent in the mouth. A classic hefe. Fruity, yeasty, refreshing. 8.5

Ehu Ale: A copper colored ale. Not much head. A hoppy but well-balanced beer. It has malt and hops in the right proportions. It could use just a little more body, but it is very tasty. 8.5
