House Brews:
Paradise Light
Wowie Wheat
Red Sky Amber (B)
Black Lava (J)

Located in a non-descript shopping plaza about 2 blocks from one of the most gorgeous beaches in the world. Head brewer greeted us - is having trouble getting the locals to drink hoppy beers.

Cute typo on the menu: Wowie Wheat - made of the best wheat and barely available. [2010 note: since they closed not long after our visit, I guess "barely" available was in retrospect, correct]

Amber: Served in a frosty glass. Hard to judge color and clarity. Aroma is a pleasant mix of the malts and hops. Probably the most refreshing "hoppy" beer I've had. Crisp finish. Body very slightly weak but not as thin as Whaler's in Kauai, but it could use some refining. As the beer warms in the glass, the caramel malts start to show more. Definitely hoppy in the finish. A beer geek's beer, probably not geared much to the Bud Light type tourists. 7.9

Black Lava: A hoppy aroma. An interesting cross between a nut brown and a stout. A hint of caramel in the taste. The hops predominate in the finish - it's just a tiny bit out of balance. It could use more vody. Given the brewer's comments, I wonder if his original recipes were geared towards the hopheads of the world. Overall, an enjoyable beer that could use some fine-tuning. 8.0
