Live music - guitarist - this evening.

Porter: A better-lasting head than some of the genre. First impression: HOPS!!! Second impression...ummmm... hops! No noticeable aroma. Mike or Jim [referencing two friends who tend to favor very hoppy beers] might be impressed but I feel almost as it I chewed a hop plant in full flower. I guess there's a flavor under the hops. Tough to find it though. 7.4

Stump-Jumper Stout: A stout with medium head that disappeared after a few minutes. Becky says it has a slightly bitter aroma. Served English-style - warm. A weak hoppy taste going in the mouth. The most noticeable taste is in the finish - hops predominate. The hop taste is not overwhelming, but it lacks another taste (malt, coffee) to balance it.

John's comments on the porter: Yep, there's hops in that there beer. Tastes like a strong dark IPA instead of a porter. A lighter color than the average porter.
