Archives: Gordon Biersch 2/6/98

Gordon Biersch Brewing Co.
Honolulu, HI
Fri 2/6/98, 12:30pm
[still open]

House Brews:
Pilsner
Marzen
Dunkles (J)
seasonal: Blonde Bock (B)

Right on the harbor at Aloha Tower Marketplace. We told the waitress we keep a beer diary and she brought samples of all 4 brews. Pilsner of no interest. The other 3 each merited consideration.

Blonde Bock: Deep golden color. Rich head. Aroma slightly yeasty and pleasant. Quite well-balanced flavor. Hops neither dominate nor are dominated by the malt. Yeasty-fruity finish that is quite refreshing out in the sun, even if the "natives" say it's cold out! 8.4

Dunkles: A malty, dark beer. It has a nice head. It has just a hint of hops in the finish. A good head. A subtle basic beer. It could use a stronger taste to meet my tastes. It is refreshing. 8.1
